
Musicians and listeners from every corner of the music world are pushing beyond their boundaries, questioning their roots, searching and stretching for the new. Additionally, the festival boasts a performance by Sun Ra Arkestra, Craig Harris, Kris Davis & Dave Holland, Reggie Workman and many more.īang on a Can’s co-founders and artistic directors, Michael Gordon, David Lang and Julia Wolf, shared, “Right now– this minute– is an amazing time to love music. The latter will feature an ode to Ornette Coleman’s “The Shape of Jazz to Come,” featuring Denardo Coleman and the Ornette Expressions performing with Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Jason Moran, Lee Odom, Wallace Rooney Jr., and special guest James “Blood” Ulmer. The festival has shared the full schedule for the inaugural Long Play event. At the same time, Outdoor events will occur at The Plaza at 300 Ashland, among other locations. Sets will be performed at BAM, Roulette, Public Records, Littlefield, Mark Morris Dance Center and The Center for Fiction. Long Play will feature over 60 concerts showcasing a network of talented musicians. The event will begin on April 29 and run through May 1, and will take place at a variety of live music venues across Brooklyn, N.Y.
